About The Barn

A flexible space

From a crumbling, redundant grain store five years ago, Dove Barn has been transformed into a light and airy venue that is flexible enough to be used for a variety of events and functions.

Since opening in September 2002 Dove Barn has hosted conferences for some of the regions largest (and smallest!) organisations. It has held private dinners for 50 people, art & dance exibitions, cultural events and weddings - lots of weddings!

In 2004 the barn was granted a civil marriage licence and since then a steady stream of brides and grooms have started married life at Dove Barn.

Food

Dove Barn has a well equipped kitchen attached where our caterers will prepare your choice of menu. We do not undertake the catering ourselves but recommend a selection of high quality local companies capable of producing menus to all tastes and budgets. We have selected each caterer for their quality of food and service. We will be happy to discuss your requirements on an individual basis.

For work or celebration. Two barns and a terrace:

Dove Barn, measuring almost 60 by 18 feet and with a 30 foot ceiling, Dove Barn has an airiness that just doesn't exist at most traditional venues. Our intention is to create a relaxed atmosphere so the barn includes a fire place, sofas, a hi-fi system and a minstrels gallery.
The White Space. A 38 foot square white painted brick barn that interconnects with both Dove Barn and the terrace. Under the hessian-lined roof and on a sprung dance floor it can seat up to 120 people in comfort.
The Terrace. Perfect for sunny lunches, afternoon receptions or simply listening to Suffolk birdsong. The terrace is sheltered from the prevailing wind, almost forty foot square and incorporates an open sided cart lodge offering shelter from sun or rain.

Dove Barn adjoins the historic Castlings Hall, a sixteenth century manor house, and sits in the middle of a 580 acre farm. It is situated amidst the rolling farmland of South Suffolk just 2 miles off the A1071.
