FAQ's

You’ll probably have a list of questions you want to ask before booking any venue. Here we try to answer some of the more common questions.

How long is the hire period?

Dove Barn is different to most other venues –we only do one wedding per weekend so you have exclusive use of the venue all weekend. You have access to the barn from midday on Friday to midday on Sunday.

Where do we park?

The farmyard has ample floodlit car parking space just 20 metres from Dove Barn.

Can guests leave cars overnight?

Yes, at the owners risk. All cars should be collected by 12 noon the next day.

Can we use our own caterers?

No! Over the years we have found that it is much better to use caterers who know the venue. We have a list of specially selected excellent local caterers who offer a broad range of price and value.

Can we bring our own wine?

Yes, and we do not charge corkage on drinks you supply yourself. Please note that all bottles/cans etc and rubbish must be removed the next day.

Can we have a pay bar?

Yes, Dove Barn is licensed to operate a pay bar and this can be arranged for you. Last orders for drinks are 11.30pm.

Can guests throw confetti?

Petals and rice are fine but coloured paper and shiny metallic shapes are not allowed.

What sort of music can we have in the evening?

Discos, bands, ceilidh bands and entertainers are all allowed in the White Space for celebrations in the evening.

Are fireworks/Chinese lanterns allowed?

Dove Barn is surrounded by fields and animals graze not far away. They do not like loud bangs and floating fires at night so we have decided not to allow them.

Do you have accommodation at Dove Barn?

There is no accommodation at the barn but a neighbour, who lives about 300metres away, has converted her old stables into a charming self catering apartment that sleeps 8 people in real comfort. Please contact Carey Fraulo on 01787-210391 (www.grotonmanorfarm.co.uk).

There is a huge choice of accommodation within 10-15 minutes drive – ranging from rustic B&B’s to Country House Hotels. We will email a list of our personal favourites if asked.

Can our suppliers visit in advance?

Once you have booked Dove Barn you are welcome to re-visit the barn with suppliers and family when you wish. Brides tend to visit a couple of times with friends/suppliers prior to their wedding so they can plan the details. Visits can easily be arranged by phone or email.

When does the evening have to end?

Our entertainment license finishes at 11.30pm. Music must stop then and all guests must leave by 12.00am.
